Santa Dash 2012 in Liverpool

The 8th annual Santa Dash attracted around 8,500 participants this year in Liverpool, U.K., on December 2. Festive runners jogged a 5K run in Christmas-red and Hanukkah-blue Santa outfits in attempt to beat the Guinness World Record of most Santas in one place.

A Floating Sea of Colorful Umbrellas

Just Sometimes… is an installation by UK-based artist Luke Jerram, in which more than 1,000 umbrellas bob along the Rotterdam canal in a floating swirl of visual sensations. The sea of colorful umbrellas was placed along the canal, temporarily, as a part of the Witte de With Festival. In the piece, the basic functions of an umbrella are literally flipped around as the tops of the protective devices touch the water in upside-down interactions.

Pink for October

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month each October, people raise money by organizing activities such as theme parties or a "pink day" (when employees wear pink clothing or accessories) at work. The money raised is donated to the organizers' choice of breast cancer care or research programs. An increasingly prominent "pink day" is Global Pink Hijab Day celebrated by many to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.
