The 1960 Plymouth XNR is an interesting retro-futuristic looking concept car designed by Virgil Exner Sr.
The 1960 Plymouth XNR concept car was built on a modified Valiant chassis as an answer to the vast popularity of Corvettes at the close of the 1950s. Now, the Plymouth XNR Concept is heading to the auction block in Monterey, California after a masterful restoration in 2011. This strange stunner will be seeking a new owner that desires a one-of-a-kind relic of eccentric 1960s design.
This car was designed by Chrysler/Plymouth designer Virgil Exner (hence the name XNR) in an attempt to create more enthusiasm for the development of a sports car at Chrysler/Plymouth. Under the hood you can find a 2.8 liter, 6 cylinder that will deliver 250 horsepower and has a top speed of 240 km/h.
The car was build by Carrozzeria Ghia in Italy where they send it back after they decided to not take it into production. After that the car had several owners and eventually went to the Shah of Persia, later on it got spotted in Beirut and now the car came to the US, got restored and will be auctioned soon.
